MISSOULA- The City of Missoula is looking to create a new position to help deal with dating and sexual violence issues in response to the federal investigations into the sexual assaults that have happened either near, or on, the University of Montana campus.

LIBBY- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has deployed a flood team to Libby Dam to help monitor the water flow and to reduce flooding. The Kootenai River Basin was forecast to rise because of Tuesday's rains as well as the already record-breaking precipitation received upstream from the dam.

MISSOULA- It turns out that all you need to do to get a kid interested in reading is give them a book. That's the message State Superintendent of Public Schools Denise Juneau had as she gave out books to local kids Wednesday in Missoula.

The Montana Reserved Water Rights Compact Commission Committee will continue its negotiations with the state, federal agencies, and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes on Wednesday morning and the public is encouraged to attend.

PONY- Two structures have been lost and 80 residences, including the Indiana University Field Station, are threatened at the Pony Fire burning 10 miles west of Pony in the Tobacco Root Mountains. The fire is currently at 6,400 acres and is 0% contained with all residents in the South Boulder River area above the Indiana University Field Station are still evacuated.

HELENA- Governor Brian Schweitzer has issued an executive order proclaiming an emergency to exist in Musselshell, Rosebud, Treasure, Custer, Big Horn, Yellowstone, Lewis & Clark, Broadwater, Jefferson and Madison counties as well as the Northern Cheyenne Reservation due to several fires that are burning, as well as the extremely hazardous wildland fire conditions.

MISSOULA- Look for a much improved day as we'll see a blue sky and much warmer highs than Tuesday. Expect a high in the lower to middle 70's. Thursday morning will be clear and cool, but with high pressure centering itself over the region, temperatures will warm very quickly throughout the day. Expect an afternoon high in the lower to middle 80's.
