MISSOULA - A wood buyers conference wrapped up Sunday in Missoula, and some potential and substantial international deals could be on the table.
The conference started out in Couer D'Alene, and then the Montana World Trade Center helped bring the conference to western Montana.
Dozens of eager buyers from China and South Korea toured different lumber plants, and even toured the Lubrecht Forest, to see the Western Montana product first hand.
China is the biggest importer of wood given their own timber ban, but they are currently not buying any lumber from Montana.
Chinese business representatives say they have been very impressed with the quality and abundance of timber in Montana.
"People have a high interest in the purchasing the product from the Montana companies, given the quality, given the different species, given the availabilities of the Montana product," explained Chinese Trade Organization representative Xu Fang.
