WHITEFISH - The Flathead County Health Department says two new cases of whooping cough, both related to an exposure at a camp, have surfaced and forced a day camp to close.
A large group of children were exposed at the day camp, most likely because of one infected child who attended for two days. The health department has made over 70 phone calls to parents of children that attended the camp.
Preventative measures have been recommended for the children to prevent further illness. Health officials say whooping cough cases have been sporadic all summer, but have not been related until this new incident.
