Williston PD names victim and suspect in shooting

WILLISTON, ND - The suspect and the victim involved in a deadly shooting incident outside of a Williston, North Dakota strip club on Saturday morning have been identified.

Detective Cory Collings of the Williston Police Department says Derrick Spiegel, 28, of Williston died after being shot by a man he began arguing with outside of Heartbreakers in Williston shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Collings says that arrest warrants have been issued for the alleged suspect, Jonathan Peter Horvath, 46, for reckless endangerment and murder. Police believe Horvath fled from the scene on foot after the shooting took place.

Collings says Horvath recently moved to the Williston area from Sandpoint, Idaho, and authorities have reason to believe that Horvath has left the western North Dakota area.

Horvath is described as a white male, 5'9'' tall, 170 lbs., with green eyes and a tattoo of a spider and a web on the left side of his neck.

Anyone with information concerning Horvath's whereabouts, you are asked to call North Dakota Crimestoppers at (701) 572.8477.
