Wolf hunting season opens in Montana

MISSOULA - The wolf general rifle season opened around the state of Montana on Sunday.

Hunters can purchase up to five wolf licenses through Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Youths as young as 12 years old can buy a license as long as they provide proof of completing a hunter education course.

The tags cost $19 for in-state residents and $50 for out-of-state residents.

It is legal to kill wolves that have radio collars on. FWP uses those wolves to monitor activity and population in the state.
