KALISPELL- The Flathead County Sheriff's Office reports that a 57-year old Kalispell woman drowned on Sunday in the Flathead River.

Authorities tell us that the rubber raft, which held the woman and her husband overturned just north of the Presentine Bar Fishing Access.

The woman was caught underneath a tree protruding from an island while her husband surfaced downstream and was able to swim to shore.

The ALERT helicopter located the body, but the woman was pronounced dead on the scene. The name of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin.
