Butte's iconic M&M restaurant is expected to be open again by the Mining City's festival season.
Butte business man Ray Ueland confirmed to MTN News on Tuesday that he has purchased the historic Uptown diner and plans to have it open for business by July 1.
The previous owner, Sam Jankovich, closed the M&M in October of last year after he had been running the business at 9 North Main Street since 2011.
Ueland, who also runs Metals Sports Bar and Grill just down the street from the M&M at Park and Main, said he bought the M&M because the restaurant is landmark in Butte and it should remain open.
“It was really sad seeing the chains on the door of the M&M during this St. Patrick's Day,” Ueland said.
Ueland said he will continue to run it was a restaurant, bar and a gaming facility, but it will not be open 24 hours.
