Paleontologist Jack Horner visits Missoula

Posted: Updated:

The Montana Natural History Museum kicked off its new lecture series "evening with a naturalist" on Friday before a sold-out crowd.

Paleontologist Jack Horner, who gave technical advise to the blockbuster Jurassic Park films, stopped by for an interview. He's visiting Missoula from his usual post at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, where everything he does is about education.

Horner was interviewed by YouTube star Hank Green of Missoula. Green uses social media platforms to promote science and education. Horner said he hopes to see Missoula more engaged in paleontology through the Natural History Center.

"It's all about trying to get kids interested in science and paleontology and in Montana's history," he said.  "And then showing them how they can learn more about it by coming to our museums."

Hank Green will be hosting the next lecture series with John Marzluff at the Natural History Center on January 15.
