MISSOULA -

A pair of suspects are behind bars in Coeur d'Alene as "persons of interest" in a Missoula murder and separate stabbing which left a middle-aged Missoula woman dead and another woman in the hospital.

There are also indications that one of those suspects may be responsible for the murder of an elderly Miles City man and the severe beating of his wife a week ago.

Missoula Police said on Tuesday that two suspects were apprehended in connection with Monday's attacks on Brooks Street. Authorities in Miles City announced late Tuesday the arrest of 37-year old Scott Austin Price, who may be connected to the Missoula incidents.

Price was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Coeur d'Alene and is being held in the Kootenai County jail on fugitive from justice charges, according to the jail roster.

A second person, Sarah Rae McKnight, was arrested at the same address as Price on Tuesday, with the jail roster showing that she is also being held on fugitive from justice charges.

The Missoula cases began when an elderly woman was stabbed repeatedly while she was loading her groceries into her car at a grocery store across the street. Minutes later, police discovered the body of 56-year old Lonette Keehner. Police believed her attackers may have stolen her car in their getaway.

MPD Captain Michael Colyer says the two "persons of interest" were arrested on unrelated charges in Idaho as part of a multi-agency investigation involving the US Marshals Violent Crime Task Force and Coeur d'Alene Police. MPD is not releasing their names at this time.

Investigators in Miles City have been working for the past week to make an arrest for the murder of Ed Martin and the beating of his wife at their home in Miles City last week.

Miles City Police aren't saying whether Price was arrested in Idaho or Washington, but in the news release they mention the help of Coeur d'Alene Police and the same U.S. Marshal's Task Force connected to the Missoula investigation.

Rod Ostermiller with the US Marshals Service told MTN News that Monday's homicide in Missoula may be connected to Price.

We will have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
