Youth Dynamics has become the first private non-profit to receive approval from the state to provide substance abuse treatment to children in nearly every part of Montana with the exception of the Lewistown area.
Kalispell is launching their newly approved substance abuse services in February.
Youth Dynamics Area Manager Jessica Curry says the expanded treatment option means that more youth in the Flathead Valley will now be able to receive services sooner and closer to home.
The approval also allows Youth Dynamics the option to bill Medicaid for payments.
Curry says the agency handles in and out-patient services, along with an aftercare program. She says addressing addiction is a top priority in the Flathead Valley where they often deal with children addicted to alcohol and various drugs.
"In Flathead County especially, people are recognizing more so the issues surrounding mental illness in our youth. The stigma is not there as much so people are seeking out those services for their children," Curry said
She says the Kalispell office has hired one full time Licensed Addiction Counselor who is able to handle up to 20 cases and could hire more depending on need.
The agency is now accepting patients and will start the program by mid-February. Programs on average last several hours a week for 15 weeks.
