GREAT FALLS -

The Great Falls Branch of the American Association of University Women, or AAUW-MT, is meeting this weekend to discuss key issues in Montana that women in college and in the workforce are facing.

The two day meeting is hosting discussions and topics that include women's voting, military assault, elderly abuse, equal pay and campus violence.

These are all topics AAUW's VP of Government Relations Lisa Maatz says women in Montana and the US face every day, and the first step in changing these issues is meeting with state legislators.

Maatz works to advance AAUW's key issues with local and national organizations as well as in the White House and on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.

"We want to make sure that we're meeting while I'm here with local legislators and local officials, the policy makers, the power brokers, so we can talk about the issues that we care about, where we have commonality, and how we can come to some, common sense solutions and help women and girls," said Maatz.

While in Montana, Maatz plans to travel to Missoula on Monday to meet with University of Montana officials to discuss campus violence and assault. She will also be traveling to Helena Tuesday to discuss the Paycheck Fairness Act with government officials.
