A group of local heroes took to the skies in a vintage biplane from 1940 in Kalispell Monday morning.
"It was, it was a beautiful flight," said veteran Jack Taylor. "It was just a marvelous flight, the air was smooth and the airplane ran like it, it just purred along beautifully."
Taylor has his orders and is armed with a vintage war plane from 1940.
"It is so much fun to be able to get the residents in there, especially when they've trained in this," said Diane Winterboer of Ageless Aviation. "It takes them back to when they were younger, just wild and crazy and ready to take on the world and a ton of fun. "
Winterboer works with the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, which coordinates free flights for our nation's veterans, turning back time for the greatest generation.
"Life is like a book," said Sherry Mayeaux from The Springs at Whitefish. "It has many chapters in it and we just want it to be a wonderful experience throughout their life."
