Montana entrepreneurs made their way to the Wilma Theater on Thursday to take part in the inaugural Last Best Conference in Missoula.

The two-day conference targets entrepreneurs in an effort to find effective ways to build start-up companies in Montana and features several speakers who have overcome the odds of building successful companies, while inspiring their pursuit of passions that leave a lasting impact on the Montana job market.

Among the speakers was U.S. Senator Steve Daines, who shared his own experiences in working with successful Montana start-up companies.

"I think it's a tremendous opportunity. I love this courage, creativity, community. That is the secret sauce here for Montana. Know that I'm rooting for you. I'm going to so all I can to continue to create the success here in Montana that can keep Montanans here in our state versus exporting them to the Bay Area for higher paying jobs," Daines said.

"You guys are dreamers. You are believers, you are creators, and you are do'ers. And I know that you all are going to love what you create, and what you make," added Shine Scout founder Lynn Casey.

The conference continues through Friday.
