A grocery store specializing in natural, organic and locally-grown products plans to open it's first Missoula store at Southgate Mall.

Lucky's Market plans to open for operations in early-to-mid 2018, on the Brooks Street side of the shopping center in the former Sears building.

Lucky’s Market stores also include juice bars, bulk foods, apothecary departments, beer and wine departments, inviting café areas and the company’s famous “Sip ‘n Stroll” program where customers can grab a $2 pint of local beer or a $3 glass of wine to enhance their shopping experience. The Missoula Lucky’s Market, which will be about 32,000 square feet, will employ approximately 150 people.

“Lucky’s Market is proud of our expansion in Montana with our new Missoula store that will make natural and organic foods more accessible to everyone by offering top quality foods at affordable prices,” said Bo Sharon, who founded Lucky’s with his wife, Trish. “Lucky’s Market is a unique grocery store concept that offers high quality, local, natural, organic, and traditionally crafted foods in a comfortable and welcoming environment, and we look forward to being an integral and supportive part of the lively Missoula community.”

Currently in the design phase, the Missoula Lucky’s Market plans to offer many unique qualities loyal Lucky’s shoppers have come to expect such as in-house smoked bacon, house-made sausages, fresh seafood, a large selection of fresh, local produce, and a decadent bakery at the store.

Lucky’s in-house butcher serves “never ever” meats, which have never been treated with antibiotics or artificial growth hormones. Staying true to Lucky’s culinary roots, customers will also find a department filled with ready-to-eat meals, made from scratch daily inside the store as well as fresh grab-and-go sushi options, and a cheese island stocked with cheeses from all over the world.

Peter Lambros of Southgate Mall Associates said, “Lucky’s Market is a cornerstone of our redevelopment vision. Southgate is transitioning into a mixed-use town center, which provides daily-use services to our neighborhood and our community. We looked country-wide for a grocer that provides quality, organic food choices, at mainstream price points. We are thrilled to welcome what we consider to be the best grocer in the country, to Southgate, along with the AMC dine-in movie theater in the coming year.”

“When researching Lucky’s early on we saw immediately that, like Southgate Mall, they are a company who is passionate about the community they are a part of,” notes Tim Winger, General Manager of Southgate Mall.  “We knew immediately they would be a great addition to the Missoula area.  If you check out the positive and successful impact they’ve achieved with their “Lucky’s Community Project” endeavors, you’ll understand our enthusiasm for their decision to choose Southgate Mall as a home.”

Lucky's Market was started in 2003 by two chefs, Trish and Bo Sharon, when they bought a convenience store in Boulder, Co.
