BUTTE -

The man found dead after a bomb exploded in his home in Butte died of a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner's office.

The victim is 32-year-old Ryan Simpson of Butte. An explosion was set off at his home just before 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The bomb squad from Missoula searched the home and found two more unexploded bombs in the home, as well as gunpowder and several guns.

"We're going to wait until we speak with the bomb technicians from Missoula as well as the medical examiner to determine the exact cause of death and we'll continue to investigate until we can see exactly what lead up to the events of Saturday night," said Silver Bow County Sheriff Ed Lester.

Lester said the victim also had wounds from the explosion of a propane tank.

The victim's remains are being sent to the state crime lab for toxicology and an autopsy.
