Mayor John Engen officially filed to run for reelection on Thursday morning -- and he already has an opponent.

Engen said in on Twitter, "Filing for a fourth term as Missoula's mayor this morning to continue our good work together in this amazing city."

Former Missoula County Public Schools trustee Lisa Triepke filed paperwork with the Missoula County Elections Office on Thursday morning.

Despite other Missoula media outlet reports, Missoula judge Kathleen Jenks is not seeking the mayor's seat.

Jenks has filed to run for her second term as a Missoula Municipal Court judge.

Also on Thursday. Missoula City Councilman Bryan von Lossberg filed to officially run for reelection to the Ward 1 seat.

Candidates have from now until June 19, 2017 to file for the municipal election.

If a municipal primary is required it will be held on Sept. 12, 2017.

The general election will be held on Nov. 7, 2017.
