2 men rescued from Bitterroot River near Missoula

MISSOULA -

Missoula County Search and Rescue teams helping out on a fire on Kelly Island west of Missoula rescued a pair of men who were stranded in the Bitterroot River on Saturday.

Seven members of search and rescue, two jet boat operators, and four swift water rescue technicians were on scene. The call came into 911 just before 5 p.m. right before Search and Rescue teams were preparing to leave the scene of the fire.

Emergency crews managed to have the men safely in the boat by about 5:45. One man reported injuries but refused medical treatment.
