MISSOULA - Montana Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) has announced funding to help the Missoula International Airport build a new terminal building and upgrade its runway system.

Sen. Tester says the airport will receive $1.4 million through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. The program provides grants to airports across the country in an effort to expand and improve America's air travel infrastructure.

Missoula Airport director Cris Jensen says the new terminal building will double the capacity of the current facility, allowing Missoula airport to accommodate more passengers, more flights, and bigger aircraft such as 757's.

The funding will also be used to upgrade the safety and security of the airport’s current runway system.
