Salute to Service: Flathead couple works to keep the community safe

Posted: Updated:

KALISPELL - Lots of couples share a vocation, but what about a badge?

Reporter Jack Ginsburg introduces us to the Perry family where they keep up with three kids -- as well as calls for service -- in this Salute to Service report.

Jeff and Mandy Perry are both Deputy Sheriffs in the Flathead County. Not only do they have to find time for their personal life, but also make sure their three kids are looked after while they’re out serving the community.

“We rely on calendars in our phone, his sister is an absolute godsend, she’s a third parent to our kids. We couldn’t do it without family,” Mandy said.

She told MTN News that she’s always had a love of law enforcement, but seeing Jeff working as a deputy made her want to join the team even more.

Both deputies say they sought jobs in law enforcement because of their will to make the community a better place.

“I grew up in this valley, this is where I was born and raised so I hate to see the crime and stuff continue to escalate and I do my part. I mean it’s a never-ending job and you’re never going to fix it completely but as long as you stay on top of it, it helps," Jeff said.
