Final Lolo Peak evacuations lifted in Missoula County

LOLO - There's some more good news for homeowners living near the Lolo Peak fire.

The Missoula County Sheriff's Office has lifted the remaining evacuation warnings on Highway 12 between Bear Creek and Graves Creek west of Lolo. The change affects approximately 13 homes and is the last of the evacuation warnings on Highway 12.

However, Elk Meadows Road and Lolo Peak Road are still closed to the public.

The Sheriff's Office lifted the evacuation warning for eight residences in the Elk Creek area west of Lolo on Monday.

An evacuation warning remains for residences west of Highway 93 from Tie Chute Lane south to South Kootenai Creek Road near Florence.

The Lolo Peak fire has burned nearly 51,800 acres and is now 46% contained. The blaze has destroyed two homes and eight outbuilding since being sparked by lightning on July 15.
