One Class at a Time: Chief Charlo Elementary

Posted: Updated:

This week’s One Class at a Time winner is using her award to enhance teamwork among her students.

Chief Charlo Elementary fifth grade teacher Tiffany Hobbs is purchasing Break Out EDU Boxes for her students.

Hobbs says a group of students must collaborate and share ideas to unlock the box and see what’s inside. The boxes can be used for a number of subjects. There are typically five separate locks they must work through to reach the ultimate solution.

She says the kids get excited about working together and persevering through a problem.

KPAX-TV General Manager, Bob Hermes awarded Hobbs with the $250 check.

"We’re always looking for ways, one to improving classroom engagement, getting the kids excited about this, so this is one way to spike their interest in whatever content area it may be," Hobbs said. "The other is to work together to solve one goal. I think that’s something they can take into the real world that we can all use a little help with.”
