KALISPELL - The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce will be holding its final luncheon for 2017 on Oct. 17 and are bringing in a special guest to offer up advice in moving forward with the redevelopment of the downtown area.
The main focus of the luncheon will be how Kalispell can accelerate the investment in the downtown core area now that the timeline is set for removal of the railroad tracks.
The head of the redevelopment authority in Denver, Tracy Huggins, will attend the lunch to talk about how the Colorado city has handled the redevelopment of their own downtown.
As Kalispell begins to redevelop downtown they will look to Denver for advice. Chamber President Joe Unterreiner says the Mile High City is one of the best examples in the western United States for successful urban redevelopment.
Unterreiner told MTN News that not only will they seek advice for what Denver did to create success but also what they would have changed or done differently.
“Not just their successes but we want to learn what they would change maybe what worked but also what didn’t work. Things they might have done differently [in] ways that we can leverage both public and private resources to help accelerate investment and job growth in the downtown area is what this lunch is going to be all about," Unterreiner said.
Folks who want to attend the lunch must register by the end of the day on Friday, Oct. 13 by calling the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce at (406) 758-2800.
