Former Billings lawmaker to run for Congress

Posted: Updated:

BILLINGS - Former Billings state lawmaker Lynda Moss is running for Montana's congressional seat.

In a filing with the Federal Elections Commission this week, the Friends of Lynda Moss is listed as her principal campaign committee.

Moss, served in the Montana State Senate for eight years from 2004 to 2012, serving as the Senate's Majority Whip in the 2008-2010 session.

In 2012, she ran for the Montana Public Service Commission, but lost out in the democratic primary.

Moss becomes the fourth Democrat to announce plans to seek the party's nomination to challenge incumbent Republican Greg Gianforte, who won a May special election to fill the seat vacated by Ryan Zinke. Zinke resigned to become U.S. Secretary of the Interior.

She joins Bozeman state Rep.Tom Woods, Billings attorney John Heenan and former land trust director Grant Kier of Missoula.
