Family Weekend returns to University of Montana

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - Washington Grizzly Stadium was packed with parents on Saturday evening for UM family weekend.

The Grizzly-Northern Arizona football game featured a tailgate and seating area just for families. Parents say it gave them a unique opportunity to spend time with their students.

Calie and Jeff Matye started dating after they met in UM Marching band and came back for this year's festivities.

"Our daughter is in the marching band, shes the clarinet section leader, and my husband and I met in band. Here at U of M, It's a long tradition. I still tell people I played trumpet, he played crash cymbals, love at first sight" said Calie Matye.

The events continue on Sunday when families have the opportunity to hike the “M” with UM President Sheila Sterns.
