Woman's Club takes part in worldwide marking of Aquathon Day

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - The Woman's Club hosted an event for aquatic exercise instructors from around the state to come in and refresh their skills and be part of the fifth annual Aquathon Day, which is celebrated worldwide.

Trainer Stephanie Thelien from Nebraska was brought in to teach the classes on Saturday and says there were two goals she hoped instructors would be able to achieve before everyone left the event.

"Number one, how do we find new ways -- right [ways] -- to motivate them? How do we find new ways to push them into an uncomfortable place but in turn it improves their fitness level...it improves their strength, and maybe it improves their self-confidence?" Thelien told MTN News.

She added that aquatic exercise is unique because it's a great way for people who may not be able to workout on land to get their daily exercise. Also as the weather continues to get colder, swimming can also be a great way to get your exercise indoors.
