Western Montana Veterans Day schedule of events

Several events marking Veterans Day are planned across western and northwestern Montana. All of the events listed below take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 unless otherwise noted.


Ole Beck VFW Post 209, 245 W. Main St., Missoula, Veterans Day breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

American Legion Post 27, 825 Ronan St., Missoula, Veterans Day pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.

American Legion Post 27 will host its annual Veteran’s Day breakfast. Donations are collected at the door that go towards helping veterans in the area and the American Legion local post.  Members will cook and serve the breakfast at their headquarters in Missoula at 825 Ronan Street.

American Legion Post 101 & The Old Post, Missoula. Veterans Day ceremony at Fort Missoula Regional Park from 10:15 a.m. until 11 a.m.

American Legion Post 101 will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at Silvers Park this Year. Traditionally Post 101 has held its Veterans Day event at the Dough Boy statue located downtown Missoula at the Court House. Due to construction, we relocated our event this year. At 10:15 am we will begin the ceremony at Fort Missoula Regional Park and finish around 11 am, in time to fully acknowledge Armistice Day, 99 years ago at 11 a.m. -- on the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 -- that marked the end of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I. To celebrate that significant date, we invite our local Veterans (with Proof of Service) to join us back at The Old Post Pub where we will have specials and discounts all day long to show our appreciation to our Veterans and their families. American Legion Post 101 & The Old Post, Missoula. Families First Veterans Day at The Post, 103 N. Spruce, from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. 1/12 at 2am

In keeping with the theme "Families First" set by American Legion National Commander, Denise Ronan, Post 101 will be extending our 25% Veterans Day discount to include the families of our nations Veterans. This includes grandparents and grandchildren. As a show of appreciation to the veterans, American Legion Post 101 will be offering a 25% discount on our full menu on Nov. 11 at The Old Post Pub from open to close. Cabela's’s, Missoula. Fall Hometown Heroes Celebration at 3650 Brooks St.

Come thank all of the brave men and women that have served and are serving in the Armed Forces, as well as, local first responders. Dan Ashemore, certified NRA instructor, will host a seminar “Citizen Awareness for Firearms,” and the Mineral County Shooting Sports Association and The Military Order of the Purple Heart will be at the event for activities and celebrations. Missoula Pediatric Dentistry. Free dental care for veterans is being offered at the Larchmont Building, 3020 S. Reserve St., Suite D, from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Dr. Tiede and the staff of Missoula Pediatric Dentistry are opening their doors on Nov. 11 exclusively to veterans to provide a complete dental exam, oral hygiene instructions, cleaning and x-rays at no cost. The goal is for these veterans to leave with a clean mouth and be informed of any other dental needs they may have. The office will connect the veterans to any other dental needs they may have. University of Montana Football military appreciation game vs. Northern Colorado at 1 p.m.  

Kick-off is at 1 p.m. and there will be a 50’ US flag presentation on the field. The Athletic Department is providing free football tickets for veterans and active military personnel who do not already have tickets.  If you have a student ticket, then please use that in order to save the limited number of free tickets for those who do not have access to student tickets. Pregame Tailgate!  This spot is being provided by Campus Rec and is sponsored by the Military Order of the Purple Heart.  We’ll be located in the field directly across from the Law School Parking lot on Campus Drive.  Call (406) 243-2744 or send an email for more info.

All veterans and active-duty military plus family and friends in the community of Missoula are invited by the first grade Charles Russell Elementary School students to attend their first-ever “Salute to Veterans” concert on Monday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m.


Corvallis Post 91 Legion Riders Veterans Day Blizzard Ride. Meet at Napa Auto, 1659 N. 1st St. in Hamilton at 9:30 a.m.

Motorcycles encouraged but all are invited. Registration opens at 9:30 at the Hamilton Napa Auto. The route will be, leave Hamilton Napa at 10 a.m. heading north. There will be a stop in Victor and Florence. Then head back south using Eastside Highway and stop in Stevensville, Corvallis and Hamilton. After the last stop you will head back to Hamilton Napa. There will be prizes and door prizes around 12 pm. The Corvallis Legion Riders will have hamburgers and hot dogs available for purchase. Half the proceeds go to K9 Care Montana. This is a poker ride with a $5 buy-in per player. Lunch available starting at noon. More info here.

Corvallis Veterans Day Parade, Main St. beginning at 11 a.m.

The Corvallis American Legion Post 91 will lead a parade down Main Street in Corvallis at 11 a.m. Local students come out with signs and thank the veterans. At 6 p.m., Corvallis American Legion Post 91 and Ravalli Post 47 will have a dinner at the Bitterroot Eagles Lodge in Hamilton.

Ravalli County Museum Veteran’s Day observance ceremony; 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Ravalli County Museum in Hamilton.

The Ravalli County Museum will hold its annual Veteran’s Day observance ceremony at the Ravalli County Museum in Hamilton. Local veterans organizations and auxiliaries will lay wreaths on the Dough Boy statue in front of the museum. The event will continue inside the museum with a POW ceremony, speakers and refreshments. Flathead Marines Marine Corps Ball and  Fundraiser at the Hilton-Garden Inn on Highway 93 in Kalispell, 4:30 p.m. More info here.

Flathead Valley Community College is hosting a free Veterans Benefit Summit in the Arts & Technology Building from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Expo booth space is still available at the event. There will also be opportunities for groups and businesses such as; gift bag space for promo materials and volunteer opportunities. Kalispell Elks Club & Events Center is hosting a Veterans Harvest Dinner & Ball at 1820 on U.S. Highway 93 in Kalispell, beginning at 6 p.m.

There will be free admission for veterans at the Miracle of America Museum on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in commemoration of Veterans Day, previously known as Armistice Day. Call (406) 883-6804 for more information.

The National Park Service will commemorate Veterans Day and the service of American military members past and present with special events and free admission in parks throughout the country on November 11 and 12.
