The groomers are out and the rentals are waxed as Great Divide Ski Area completes the final touches before the opening of the 2017-2018 ski season.
With a little help from mother nature and technology, Great Divide will open around 20 acres to skiers on Saturday.
The first chair on the Good Luck Chairlift will run at 9:30 a.m.
"We're excited about it," Operations Manager Tom Griggs said. "We always try to make that push to start off the ski season for the state of Montana."
In 68 years, the ski area has never opened as early as November 11th.
There is enough snow that the Good Luck to Broadway Trail will open for experienced skiers while the Cub to Sunnyside to Broadway Trail will open for family-friendly skiers.
According to Griggs, A-T (alpine touring) skiers will need to buy a pass and skinning is restricted.
A-T uphill is allowed prior to the weekend but skiers must watch out for snowcats and snowmobiles.
Some portions of the terrain park will open along with the free backyard beginners area.
Griggs added that the environment is always family-friendly.
Ski and snowboard rentals are also available.
