MARYSVILLE - Around 1,100 skiers and snowboarders showed up to the Great Divide Ski Area on Saturday to test out the fresh powder.
Sixty acres out of the 1,200-acre resort are open, which includes the Good Luck Chairlift, access to the Good Luck Run to Broadway and the family-friendly Cub Run to Sunnyside and Broadway.
Snowboarder Papu Rincon said he enjoyed skinning up the mountain.
"Today's just been a little bit quieter but really fun because of shorter lift lines, awesome snow conditions, fun park features, and just good atmosphere on the lodge, the bar, and the deck," Rincon said.
Eric Gomes is the director of communications at Great Divide and he said his team is happy to see customers enjoy the unique weekend.
"We have a dedicated enthusiastic skiing community in Helena and everybody was excited to be up here joining up on the early open," Gomes said.
Skier Jake Wenzel appreciates the slow chair, family-style ski area.
"Shout-out to the Great Divide for opening early," Wenzel said. "It's been super fun and shout-out to all the snow and mother nature."
Great Divide will offer $20 lift tickets next weekend if purchased in advance. Click here to buy tickets.
