9 dogs killed, home a total loss in Polson fire

Posted: Updated:

POLSON - The Polson Fire Department reports that nine dogs died after being caught in a weekend house fire on the 500 block of 10th Avenue West in Polson.

According to Polson Assistant Fire Chief Terry Gembala, the couple escaped the house safely and left a door open in hopes their pets would do the same.

Gembala said the pet owners previously thought all their dogs had died in the fire, but on the morning of Monday, Nov. 13 they found one had made it out safely.

Crews from Polson City, Polson Rural and Finley Point Rural fire departments responded to the house fire.

Gembala said the house is a total loss and the investigation into what sparked the fire continues.
