Posted: 11/14/2017 11:25:00 -07:00 Updated:

GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Police Department is reporting that a stolen car involved in an apparent accidental kidnapping two weeks ago has been found.

The car was stolen in Great Falls on Oct. 30 and a toddler was inside at the time. The child was dropped off a short time later at the Best Western Heritage Inn hotel, was not harmed, and was reunited with family.

The GFPD says that police officers in Missoula recently initiated a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle. The female driver of the vehicle tried to run away, leading to a brief chase, but was eventually taken into custody.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the driver, nor indicated whether she was the person who stole the car and drove away with the child inside.

We will update you as we get more information.
