Annual Thanksgiving day run sees record numbers

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - Some folks started the day guilt-free with a run or walk down at McCormick Park with Run Wild Missoula.

Thanksgiving morning saw the most people ever to participate since the race began in 2002. Run Wild Missoula's Ashley Cossairt says close to 1,500 people were there, thanks in part to the warm temperatures.

"We like to pretend we have our calorie converter with all our registrations today, so you run in the morning, you eat guilt free the rest of the day," Cossairt said.

Runners snaked through McCormick and Silver parks and then along the Kim Williams Trail. There was a timed 8K and an un-timed 3K Family Fun Run. People also brought donations for the Missoula Food Bank.

“This is our biggest race of the year behind the Missoula Marathon, so it's really exciting, a great way to kick off Thanksgiving, get the family out and going," Cossairt said.
