Identities released of married couple killed in Tuesday crash

KALISPELL - The Flathead County Sheriff has released the names of the husband and wife killed in a single vehicle crash on Highway 2 just west of the McGregor Lake Lodge earlier this week.

The victims are identified as 31-year-old Justin Edward Novak and his wife, 33-year-old Rose Mari Novak. Both were from Kalispell.

The crash occurred on Tuesday morning around 1:30 a.m. west of Marion. Their SUV was traveling west down a hill with a left curve when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David Mills said the roads appeared to be clear, but black ice was present on the road at the time of the crash.

The vehicle, which contained three adult males and three adult females, rolled and struck several trees.

The married couple were passengers in the SUV and were ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene.

Mills says the couple was not wearing seat belts.

The other four passengers were all sent to Kalispell Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries

Mills said the driver was not speeding at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not determined to be a factor.
