MISSOULA -

MISSOULA - A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of South Russell Street and McDonald Avenue in Missoula

Missoula Police Department Sergeant Jerry Odlin says officers responded to the incident just after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sgt. Odlin said life-saving measures were attempted on the 46-year-old Missoula woman but proved unsuccessful.

Missoula Police Lt. Sandy Bjorkland told MTN News that the people in the vehicle rendered first aid to the victim and are cooperating with investigators.

There is no evidence that speed or alcohol contributed to the accident, according to Lt. Bjorkland.

The incident closed the South Russell Street near the YMCA for several hours.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
