Posted: Updated:

THOMPSON FALLS - Authorities have released more information about the November fatal shooting near Trout Creek.

Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel says deputies were called to a residence on Hope Valley Road on Nov. 25 for reports that two people had been shot.

Sheriff Rummel says deputies arrived at the scene and found a woman dead from a single gunshot to the head. Authorities have not released the woman's name at the request of her family.

Deputies also found that Charles Moore, 83, had been shot in the shoulder, according to Sheriff Rummel. Moore was taken to St. Patrick Hospital and is recovering from his wound.

A suspect in the shootings had already fled the scene. Sheriff Rummel says that with the help of Two Bear Air, the suspect -- who has been identified as William Tyree, 64, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound near the residence.

Sheriff Rummel says in a news release that a further investigation into this incident showed that Tyree had been in a heated argument with Moore.
