BILLINGS - The owners of Big Bear Sports Center announced Wednesday they will not open their Billings West End story for the holiday shopping season.

In a Facebook post, owners Brett and Bob Taylor thanked the community for their support since a Nov. 4 police standoff inside the store, which caused extensive internal and external damage and left one man dead.

"After analyzing everything from construction of the building to replacing inventory, we will not be able to have everything together and completed in time. We can't express how much we appreciate all of your continued support we are receiving on a daily basis and we will continue to work hard and push forward," the Taylors wrote in the post.

A man drove a vehicle through the front end of the business early morning Nov. 4, then exchanged fire with police for hours before he was killed. Damages included the front end, bullet holes and water damage from sprinklers.
