Stockman Bank opens first Missoula branch downtown

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - A family-owned, Montana based bank cut the ribbon on its first permanent Missoula branch on Wednesday and Missoula's Chamber of Commerce says it's happy to welcome Stockman Bank to the Garden City.

"I think this is a beautiful building, I think it's going to be one of the new beautiful anchors in Downtown Missoula, and we can't wait to see what it, how it impacts our economy and how it impacts downtown," said the Chamber of Commerce's Margit Baake.

The new bank, on the corner of Broadway and Orange Street, kicked off its grand opening this week. It's the 33rd Stockman Bank location in Montana and more than 100 people gathered for the ribbon cutting.

The building also hosts space for tenants on three of its six floors, though the third floor is already occupied by law firm Worden Thane. Executives say the Montana-based nature of the bank is what makes it appeal to people.

"You know, I think what's important about Stockman Bank is that we're family owned, privately held Montana-based bank," the bank's Bob Burns said.

Construction on a second Missoula Stockman branch is set to break ground next year.
