HELENA - The Montana Highway Patrol is encouraging people to be safe and responsible while traveling during the holiday season.
MHP says that when there's ice and snow on the roads, folks need to drive safe and plan ahead for extra time when traveling. Trooper Brandon Uhl says that it’s always better to get there late, than not get there at all.
“When it’s snowing like this you definitely need to make sure and watch your speed, keeping your space, and making sure you’re giving yourself time and distance to react to whatever may happen on the road,” says Uhl.
MHP troopers have responded to more than 50 crashes and slide-offs just in Jefferson County and Lewis & Clark counties since Tuesday.
Drivers should also expect to see increased law enforcement patrols looking for impaired or distracted driving over the holidays.
