One Class at a Time: Cold Springs Elementary School

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA -  Cold Springs Elementary School counselor Starla Klevenberg is in need of manipulatives to accompany her kindergarten curriculum.

Klevenberg says manipulatives are important in helping her young students develop the necessary social skills -- including problem-solving, sharing, and taking turns -- as they move into the grades ahead.

Thanks to KPAX-TV and Republic Services, Klevenberg is the winner of this week’s One Class at a Time $250 grant.

Chad Bauer of Republic Services and KPAX-TV General Manager Bob Hermes presented her the check which will help her purchase these manipulatives for several themes they will touch on this school year,

“For example, one is a space theme, and so I will be looking for objects related to space so when we get to that booklet, the kids will be able to explore, and share, and learn how to work in a group with materials related to space," Klevenberg said.
