Flu is widespread in Montana

Posted: Updated:

BILLINGS - Flu activity in Montana is now considered widespread, according to the most recent Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services report on influenza.

In the report that ended Friday, 220 new cases of the flu were reported in 32 Montana counties. It's the biggest increase in flu cases since the season began. The county with the most cases of flu is Yellowstone County 81 followed by Flathead County with 74.

There have been 613 cases of influenza across the state, resulting in 115 hospitalizations and seven deaths this season. The Centers for Disease Control reports that all but 13 states have widespread flu.

Health officials advise people to get a Flu shot, wash their hands often, and avoid contact with sick people.
