BOZEMAN - A Bozeman man appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court Wednesday on a charge of criminal endangerment.

Bridger A. K. Jackson was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly firing a gun from a residence in the direction of a public trail. A cross-country skier was on the trail at the time of the alleged incident. According to charging documents, the skier heard bullets flying over his head and reported the incident to police.

An officer responded to the 500 block of E. Kagy Blvd., and the skier identified the backyard of a residence where he claims he saw muzzle flashes accompanied by a booming sound. The skier also informed the officer of a similar, prior incident from October 2017 when Jackson was charged with negligent endangerment.

The officer went to the residence identified by the skier and spoke with Jackson, who claimed he had fired a BB gun at a target. When Jackson pointed out the area where he was shooting from, the officer found multiple .22 caliber shell casings that appeared to be recently fired and placed Jackson into custody.

Judge Rick West set Jackson’s bail at $2,500. He must surrender all firearms to the Sheriff’s Office and cannot be in possession of any dangerous weapon. Jackson’s preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 26.
