BOZEMAN - When it comes to workplace accidents Montana ranks third in the country according to the Montana State Fund which hosted a scholarship event on Friday for students practicing safety in the workplace.
A total of 10 students received scholarships from the Montana State Fund for demonstrating academic excellence and promoting safety in their work. The students either attend Gallatin College, Highlands College or Montana Tech.
“This scholarship is really allowing me to continue in this program so I want to do everything that I can to really emphasize safety because it's a really big issue,” said Kyla Biggs a welding student at Gallatin College.
“Both as a student and as an intern at Montana Tech in the Environmental Health and Safety department every day involved helping the campus be safer in a variety of ways,“ said Sarah Storey a Masters student at Montana Tech.
