Missoula group hosts discussion on police interactions Monday night

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - How do Missoula police do their job? That is the basis for a discussion being held in Missoula Monday night.

Missoula Rises is organizing the Community Conversation at Homeword Inc. at 6:30 p.m.

Four panelist from different organizations will help lead the conversation based around police interactions in the community.

The aim of the event is to create a forum to talk about issues that are not frequently discussed.

Event organizer Rebecca Weston commented on the goal of the event.

“We feel as though there's an awful lot of soundbites out there. There's an awful lot of article sharing," Weston said. "There's an awful lot of reactivity in the world because there's so much happening politically, but precious little space to have a real conversation with new information that people have time to process and think through. So it's trying to create real dialogue where we take in new information and actually adjust our thinking and learn about things that we might not have known before.”
