Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA - Missoula law enforcement will be tackling drunk driving this weekend.

The Super Bowl is one of the most watched events of the year, and with it comes parties, impaired driving always spikes. So, law enforcement and traffic agencies are huddling up to intercept impaired drivers.

Law enforcement officials are urging partygoers to go over their playbook beforehand.

“If you're an NFL fan, you plan your Super Bowl for weeks. Let's plan to get home safe after whatever party we go to. And we're going to have extra patrols out there," said Missoula Police Sergeant Greg Amundsen.

"The two or three extra police officers working on Sunday night in their only task is going to be looking for impaired driving. And not just us, the highway patrol in the Missoula County Sheriff's department are both likely going to have extra people out working," Amundsen added.

Missoula Police urge people to have a game plan beforehand. Many safe ride options are available to those in Missoula including Uber, LYFT, Green Taxi, Yellow Cab and Home Free Missoula.
