Man who prompted Lakeside manhunt makes court appearance

Posted: Updated:

KALISPELL - A 30-year-old Libby man pleaded guilty to burglary Thursday in Flathead County District Court.

Kevin Ray Mitchell was arrested following a brief manhunt in Lakeside last month in which an alert was issued asking neighbors to lock their doors. Mitchell was considered armed and dangerous and under the influence of drugs.

The Two Bear Air helicopter was deployed and, with thermal imaging technology, responding SWAT officers took him into custody near Camas Creek.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, who hoisted him from Camas Creek, told MTN News Mitchell was hypothermic and had lost his shoes.

Mitchell is due back in court to be sentenced mid-March.
