BOZEMAN - Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) was in Bozeman Saturday to help kick-start a new organization for his 2018 campaign.
The group hosting the event, called Women for Tester, describes itself as Montana women who support Tester, and who are actively involved in improving the lives of all Montanans.
Sen. Tester, who spoke at the event, said women’s rights are important to all aspects of Montana life, from health care to public land issues.
"Women are out there fighting for those issues,” Sen. Tester said. “Even issues like public lands, which is an incredible driver to the state, there are women out there on the forefront demanding we have access to public lands and making sure that we've got good habitats and clean water and clean air, they're up there front and center fighting those fights, so every issue that's important to Montana is a woman's issue,” he said.
Sen. Tester will be challenged by Big Sky Businessman Troy Downing, former State Representative Russell Fagg, State Senator Albert Olszewski and State Auditor Matt Rosendale in the 2018 election race.
