HELENA - The Montana Hope Project held a party at MacKenzie River Pizza in Helena on Saturday to send Amy Stewart and her family off to Disney World after she wished to swim with dolphins.

Amy Stewart is one of the Montana Hope Project's 2018 "Children of Hope."

The nonprofit organization grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases and is sponsored by the Association of Montana Troopers.

"I am very excited," Amy said. "I am going to be riding on an airplane for the first time in my life." Amy will swim with dolphins while celebrating her 16th birthday.

Although Amy enjoyed the party with friends and family, she was excited to meet some of the Montana Highway Patrol officers who were there to send her off.

"It's really nice. I would never have thought I would be talking to a highway patrol person in my life unless I got pulled over, of course," Amy said. "I don't plan on getting pulled over."

Amy's mother Michelle Stewart said the trip is exactly what the family needed. "We're just over the moon happy, it's going to be so much fun," she said.

Trooper Griffin Sutherland thanked Amy and her family at the celebration.

"I know I don't just speak for myself whenever I say we are very excited and happy to be part of this special moment you get to have and we are very proud to welcome you to the Hope Project," Sutherland said. "

The Montana Hope Project has served the community and granted wishes since 1984. It is funded by tax-deductible charitable donations and is not associated with any national wish-granting organization.
