BOZEMAN - “Red Whirly” sculpture to remain at the library

A familiar sculpture at the Bozeman Public Library will now be there permanently.

The ‘Red Whirly’ sculpture which stands right outside the library was purchased through The Library Foundation, Friends of the Library, and the Gallatin Art Crossing.

“It just feels like it’s an iconic part of the library. It’s in every picture we have of the library, so when we found out someone was interested in purchasing it, we thought oh we can’t let that happen.”

The majority of the sculptures at the library are on consignment and are up for purchase.

When a group of friends in Colleton County, South Carolina, set out for a kayaking trip on Saturday, they were likely anticipating exercise, camaraderie and a lot of fresh air -- all the best that nature has to offer. What they got, however, was arguably one of the worst hands that nature can deal.
