Cold Temperatures To Continue Heading Into The Weekend

Posted: Updated:

Heading into the weekend the biggest concern for SW Montana will be the bitter cold temperatures especially during the morning as wind chills will likely dip below zero Saturday.

There is a little lingering snow showers around mostly higher based but the valley floors could see a dusting of snow heading into this evening.

National Weather Service still has Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories up locally through 5 pm tonight. Pockets of snow will continue to produce snow and keep area roads snow covered and icy.

The other concern with the cold air is ice jams forming on area rivers and streams.

There is a FLOOD WARNING up for the Missouri River as it dumps into Canyon Ferry near Townsend. An ice jam is producing flooding North of Townsend and please stay away from this area until the ice breaks and water levels drop.

WHAT IS NEXT:

An unsettled weather pattern will continue to bring periods of snow to SW Montana next week. So please keep checking back here for updates and on KBZK TV for complete STORMTracker Weather forecasts.
