KALISPELL - This edition of Salute to Service features an organization in the Flathead Valley that's making the road to recovery for cancer patients a little easier.
The Cancer Support Community of Kalispell hosted their Mardi Gras event over the weekend where all the proceeds going toward helping folks impacted by cancer.
The organization provides psychosocial care for people who are suffering from cancer.
They provide a number of adult, youth, couples and family programs to help improve the quality of life for the patient through the entire process. The programs range from exercise classes like Pilates to cooking and educational classes.
Community Outreach Coordinator, Jennifer Young says she enjoys her work because she can see the help and support the organization brings to those in a difficult time.
“They can feel comfortable here because it’s a home and they’re not scared anymore. And they do laugh and they do cry and they do smile when they walk out the door because we’re helping them feel better about themselves and bringing them joy,” Young said.
