BOZEMAN - Montana State University is reporting record-breaking enrollment numbers for the spring 2018 semester.
The university set a spring enrollment record of 15,496 students and marks the tenth year of consecutive growth for the spring semester.
Enrollment numbers are not only up from last fall, but also last spring with MSU 300 students stronger than last year at this time. The record numbers present a number of benefits and challenges for MSU's future.
“Of course, a benefit is that more students get a chance [for] some of the life-altering higher education available at MSU,” university spokesman Michael Beck said. “The con...obviously we have to cope with the growing number of students, we're finding ways to do that every year that we set enrollment records,” he added.
MSU plans to construct a new residence hall on College Street that will house 480 students to help to accommodate the growing number of students.
